Lynmouth is the kind of place where you can slow down without ever feeling bored. The harbour sits at the centre of everything, with the sea on one side and the river running through the village, giving it a really calm, easy going feel. It’s lovely just to stroll along the water, dip into the shops or grab a coffee while you watch the boats come and go.
If you enjoy walking, you’re in a great spot. You can follow the riverside path through woodland, which is one of the prettiest routes in the area with waterfalls, shaded trails and plenty of spots to stop for a breather. The coast path is close by as well, offering exquisite sea views and a bit more of a challenge if you want it.
The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a favourite for visitors, giving you a fun ride up to Lynton and a superb view of the bay. Once you’re up there, you can wander around the shops or head out towards the Valley of Rocks.
